Measures to alleviate poverty
The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund Project (PPAF), which is funded by the World Bank, was created to reduce poverty and empower the poor in both urban and rural Pakistan through the provision of resources and services to the poor, especially women. Their goal is achieved through an integrated approach that includes building institutions for the poor, followed by giving them micro-credit loans; grants for small scale infrastructure undertakings; training and skill development and social sector interventions. PPAF has also greatly contributed in rebuilding lives, fostering resilience and restoring property of the poor who have suffered from various natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and droughts.
