Pakistan's Army composition
The percentage of the different ethnic groups as of 2007:
Punjabis: 53.19%
Pashtuns: 21%
Sindhis: 13.5%
Kashmiris: 9.11%
Balochis: 3.2%
The army was predominantly Punjabi as the Punjab population in Pakistan was the largest. However there have been efforts in further including the Sindhis and Balochis in the army. The army’s recruitment system does not have any restrictions in recruitment within provincial boundaries and every citizen is given a fair chance to be part of the Pakistan army. Each district is also given a fixed number of seats in all branches of the army.
